⚠ IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON THE STATUS OF THE PROGRAMME
This article describes Planned target programme NFOŚiGW (EU Modernisation Fund, budget PLN 1 billion). Recruitment in this programme has not yet been announced - planned for Q2/Q3 2026. All parameters quoted are from the draft programme and are subject to change before the official launch.
The current open call is a separate NIP transition programme (PLN 335 million) - other requirements (min. 2 kWh, no requirement for island operation), applies to investments from 1.08.2024-31.10.2025, call until 30.04.2026. Details: przydomowemagazyny.gov.pl
Owners of PV installations have been waiting for years for meaningful funding for energy storage. The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management's priority programme „Subsidising domestic energy storage facilities” for 2026-2030 is the answer to this need. Below we break it down: who will be able to apply, how much you can get and what mistakes to avoid.
What is the planned programme and who will fund it?
The programme is to be implemented by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) with funds from the EU Modernisation Fund. The aim is to increase self-consumption of electricity from RES micro-installations by storing it in households.
Key parameters of the programme design:
- Budget: PLN 1 billion for non-refundable grants
- Planned number of subsidised warehouses: at least 62,500 units
- Implementation period: 2026-2030 (contracts to 31.12.2029, disbursements to 31.12.2030)
- Mode of recruitment: continuous (details to be announced when the programme is launched)
- Eligible costs from: 1 November 2025 (draft programme)
- Start of recruitment: planned Q2/Q3 2026. - date not yet confirmed
📅 COST RETROACTIVITY - ATTENTION TO TWO PROGRAMMES
The draft target programme provides for the recognition of costs from 01.11.2025. However, the currently open NIP call covers investments from 1.08.2024-31.10.2025 - the exact opposite. A customer buying a warehouse now (after 01.11.2025) cannot apply to the current NIP call. For the target programme, he has to wait for the call to be announced.
How much can you get? Energy storage funding table 2026
According to the draft programme, the amount of funding depends on the type of appliance and the energy accounting system. The amounts quoted are subject to change in the final version of the programme:

* The issue of the +2 000 PLN bonus needs to be clarified by NFOŚiGW. It is advisable to confirm the current interpretation on the NFOŚiGW website before submitting an application.
💡 NET-BILLING VS. NET-METERING - DIFFERENCE OF £8,000
Prosumers on net-billing (installations after 1 April 2022) can count on a subsidy PLN 16,000. On the old net-metering system - only PLN 8,000. Changing the billing system before submitting an application may mean a higher grant - it is worth reviewing this with your adviser.
Who will be able to apply?
The programme is planned exclusively for natural persons - prosumers, i.e. owners of a grid-connected RES micro-installation. Formal conditions according to the project:
- Having a PV micro-installation connected to the grid (confirmation of connection by DSO)
- Entering into a comprehensive or energy sales contract as a party (not as an agent)
- No business-related contract at the installation address
- Net-billing (higher subsidies) or net-metering (lower subsidies)
Planned technical requirements
The draft target programme sets specific technical requirements - much stricter than the current NIP call. Failure to meet them would mean rejection of the application:

Eligible costs and exclusions
Eligible costs are to include:
- Purchase and installation of electricity storage (min. 10-12 kWh - to be confirmed)
- Purchase and installation of a heat store (min. 150 dm³, Polish production, medium: water)
- Purchase and installation of a hybrid inverter - only if required for cooperation with an existing PV installation and manufactured in the EU
Costs excluded from funding:
- Transport, shipping, forwarding, customs
- Equipment purchased second-hand or without invoice
- Lease-financed investments (if ownership has not passed to the applicant)
- Equipment previously subsidised under other programmes (My Electricity, Clean Air, My Heat, municipal programmes)
📋 ACCUMULATION WITH THERMO-MODERNISATION RELIEF
Funding from this programme is to be able to be combined with a thermo-modernisation relief (a deduction of up to PLN 53 000 from PIT), but only on the amount less the subsidy received. Example: a warehouse for 40,000 PLN with a subsidy of 16,000 PLN - to qualify for the relief PLN 24,000.
How to make an application?
The application is to be submitted once the investment has been completed (all equipment paid for and commissioned). Planned documents required:
- Invoices for the purchase and installation of all equipment
- Proof of payment (bank transfer or credit note - the mere mention „paid” on the invoice is not sufficient).
- Certificate of the DSO confirming the connection of the PV micro-installation to the grid
- Certificate of the DSO confirming notification of energy storage to the grid
- Protocol of acceptance of works from the contractor
- Document confirming the possibility of island operation of the warehouse (manufacturer's data sheet)
- Evidence of energy management system (EMS/HEMS)
- Document confirming production in the EU - if you are applying for a premium +2 000 PLN
The call is to be conducted continuously through the NFOŚiGW portal. The detailed form and deadlines will be published with the call announcement.
Is it worth acting now without waiting for the call to be announced?
It depends on the situation:
- If your installation dates from 1.08.2024-31.10.2025 - you can apply to the current KPO call (simpler requirements, min. 2 kWh). The call lasts until 30.04.2026 or until the funds are exhausted.
- If you bought or are assembling a warehouse after 01.11.2025 - costs are eligible for the planned target programme. You must wait for the call for proposals to be announced (Q2/Q3 2026).
- Choosing a warehouse now - It is worth buying an appliance that meets the requirements of both programmes: min. 10 kWh, island operation, EMS system. This gives you flexibility regardless of the final programme parameters.
