In a dynamic development of renewable energy sources, the Climate Ministry has announced the start of a new edition of the My Current programme. Some changes that have taken place in the Renewable Energy Sources Act are the beginning of further changes that continue in the fourth edition of the programme. The My Current 2022 programme, like the previous editions of the programme, is mainly aimed at increasing the level of energy efficiency primarily from micro photovoltaic installations. In this way, it will be possible to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the broader energy mix.
What is the primary objective of the My Current programme?
The next edition of the My Current programme, however, is not only a question of increasing the energy efficiency of all households, which is expected to translate into greater savings for prosumers, but also, and perhaps above all, a significant reduction in CO2 emissions into the environment. Such changes, which have been proposed by the climate ministry, are also the result of an increasing focus on environmental issues. This, in turn, is reflected in the increasing popularity of photovoltaic systems to encourage the installation of micro photovoltaic installations.
Who is the My Current programme aimed at?
The latest version of the fourth edition of the programme is scheduled fort for all natural persons who have a contract with a Distribution Network Operator. In contrast, the form of application and grant decisions will remain the same. The disbursement of project funding is likely to follow the old rules. Nevertheless, It is worth remembering that the fourth edition of the programme will probably only apply to those who choose photovoltaics under the new rules, i.e. after 31 March 2022.
What changes have taken place in the My Current programme?
From the first announcements of the new programme, it appears that it will be extended to include broader subsidy opportunities for other investments in the area such as energy storage. This move is intended to take into account, among other things, changes to previous regulations, which already include a move away from the popular discount schemes in favour of prosumers.
Keep this in mind!
From the first of April 2022, all new prosumers will be billed on the basis of the value of the energy they feed into the grid, rather than the volume, as was the case previously.
What is the budget for the My Current programme?
The budget for the My Current programme is around PLN 1 billion, more than double the previous amount. However, the amount of support is likely to depend on the material scope of each investment.
What is the date and deadline for the My Current programme?
At this point, the exact date for the acceptance of applications has not yet been set. However, as one can learn from the communications issued by the Ministry of Climate and Environment, The exact date will be known in the first quarter of 2022. It is worth noting that the total capacity of the planned installations, which directly results from the applications submitted under the My Current programme, is approximately 2.5 GW. In addition, all those who send an application to the relevant distribution system operator will have the opportunity to settle under the old rules, i.e. under the discount system, for the next 15 years.
